BLTRA GUIDELINES REGARDING VOTING ON ZONING MATTERS
4/14/2002In an effort to avoid any confusion regarding the position of BLTRA on Brown and Lincoln Township or Hendricks County zoning matters, it is now established that BLTRA should state its position using the following terms:
SUPPORT:
BLTRA has determined that the petition will favorably serve the interests of Brown/Lincoln Township or Hendricks County residents. By appearance at a hearing or by letter, BLTRA will advise the respective Town or County of BLTRA’s support.
SUPPORT IF:
BLTRA has determined that the petition will favorably serve the interests of Brown/Lincoln Township or the Hendricks county residents but only if certain conditions are met. These conditions shall be specifically enumerated, shall be added to the petitioners Development Statement, and shall be attached to the subject parcel of land (rather than to the particular petitioner or project). A motion to "support if all the concerns of the neighbors are met" is acceptable but less desirable. (If all of the enumerated conditions are not met, BLTRA’s position will be that of opposition.) By appearance at a hearing or by letter, BLTRA will advise the respective Town or County of BLTRA’s conditional support.
OPPOSE:
BLTRA has determined that the petition will not favorably serve the interests of the residents of Brown/Lincoln Township or Hendricks County. By appearance at a hearing or by letter, BLTRA will advise the respective Town or County of its opposition.
NO POSITION:
BLTRA has determined that the petition overall does not favorably or unfavorably serves the interests of the residents of Brown/Lincoln Township or Hendricks County. This vote should not be construed as support or opposition. By letter, BLTRA will advice the Town or County of BLTRA’s vote of no position.
NO ACTION:
BLTRA has determined either that the petition does not affect the interests of the residents of Brown/Lincoln Township or Hendricks County or that BLTRA presently has no input on this matter. No communication will be made to the Town or County. (This vote should be used sparingly).
The following terms should not be used when voting on zoning matters:
(1) support unless (2) support staff (we make our support as a neighborhood)
(3) not oppose if (4) not oppose
